  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Create a well in the center.
  2. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Pour into the well and mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl covered with plastic wrap to rise for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick and cut into donut shapes.
  6. Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in a deep pan and fry donuts for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form and fill cooled donuts using a piping bag.
