  • 12 oz ziti pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook ziti in salted boiling water until al dente.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef; drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with half of the mozzarella and some salt until smooth.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the cooked ziti, half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat layers.
  6. Top with remaining mozzarella and sprinkle Parmesan on top. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
